Feedback on Daniel A’s Portfolio

Dan,
After looking through all of your pictures, I loved how you included pictures of objects and people. You have a great imagination for your pictures. Two of my favorite pictures are of the sunset and the red velvet delight. I loved the colors in both of them. Overall you have everything you need in your portfolio and it is very fun to look at.
Great Job!
Reflections for the Interview
by Jesse on Jan.02, 2010, under Reflections
One of the things that I saw appeared most in the comments were that people were saying that Josh, the interviewee was talking a lot about his academic life at Milken and not a lot about his social life. Something I would do differently next time is to have different shots of Josh and daniel apposed to them being in the same picture. Overall, i thought we did a good job and the interview came out great. For next time I would definitely use the same lighting and setting because it was quiet and nice.
Effective Portrait
by Jesse on Dec.24, 2009, under Reflections

I chose this portrait because it is a great picture of our President. All of the colors come together to make this great photo. The lighting also makes this picture so bright. The flag on the left doesn’t take up much of the portrait but it catches your eye. Also, the blue tie on his black coat really brings out the rest of the picture.
good user interface

http://www.guitarcenter.com/
http://www.youtube.com/
I chose both guitarcenter.com and youtube.com because they are both great user interfaces. Guitar Center has a great website because it shares all of the sales that are going on. You can also look for your favorite guitar, bass, drums and any other instrument by a click of a button. You tube is a good user interface because you can literately search any type of video you want and it will come up right onto your screen. They make it a great website for all ages and all different types of videos. It is also very easy to navigate through.
Is resampleing/re-mixing ok?
by Jesse on Dec.24, 2009, under Reflections
My thought on the art of resampling/re-mixing is that I believe that it is not a bad thing to take someone else’s work of music and put it into your song. You are making something new of the music and putting it together with other music to make one of your own songs. I do not necessarily find it a talent because it is not an instrument to DJ. You can learn to DJ in about 2 weeks and you will be great at it, but if you learn guitar for 2 weeks you will still be bad at it. There are a lot of different ways to look at this and I think that re-using songs is fun and cool but it is not true music.

This picture is a close up of a soda can. I like this picture because more then half of the photo is the soda can and the darkness of the hole in the can
This is a great photo because you get to see the inside of a lamp with all of the color/light contrast between the two light bulbs
I like this photo because you get a close up of a picture frame with a chrome star on it
I took this picture of Daniel Afar through the trash can. i chose this picture because I like how you can only see the top part of his face through the trash can
Portfolio as a Whole

I really like your portfolio because it has a lot of interesting pictures and blogs about them. I especially like your animated logo. It is really nice and interesting to look at your portfolio. You describe things really well and the colors you used on the pictures are really well done.
Copy Rights
by Gabrielle on Dec.16, 2009, under Reflections
I feel that what Shepard Fairy is doing is wrong. I understand his point of view but by taking other peoples music and distributing it for money isn’t right. All he did was mix the music, not MAKE it, which does not give him the right to take credit for mixing these songs. He didn’t get the copy right approval which is also bad. It is wrong that he copyrighted and he should be sued.
Resampling
by Megan on Dec.14, 2009, under Reflections
I believe resampling is okay, but there are a couple conditions that people need to follow. You can use people’s art, but when you don’t get permission or approval from the original author I think that it is wrong. By taking their work with out permission, you are stealing their work. For example, when an artist sings a song, if another artist wants to make a remix, they would be featuring in the song.
It is not your work if you did not create it first. These resamplers do not make anything themselves, but rely on other people’s works.
